And By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS from NYT > Toronto Blue Jays says (in Yankees Beat Blue Jays 4-2 for 8th Win in 9 Games) NEW YORK (AP) -- A.J. Burnett quickly got the New York Yankees back to their winning ways.

This Week, Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in That Was So Much More Fun; Romero and Jays Beat Rays) Anyway the rest of the offense was fine, we had 8 hits, with 3 homers, one each from Rod Barajas, Adam Lind and Rolen. Our new number 3 hitter, Lind, had 2 hits as did Rolen. 0 fors went to Hill, Millar and Rios (who did have a walk and hit one hard the other way but Gabe Gross made a good catch).

And Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in We Still Can't Score Against Matt Garza) We got 8 hits and 4 walks and yet only scored 1 run, hard to believe. Everyone in the lineup had at least one hit except Marco Scutaro ( but he had 2 walks), Lyle Overbay and Russ Adams. Some power would have been nice, we only had one extra base hit, a double by Aaron Hill. Vernon Wells and Scott Rolen...

And By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS from NYT > Toronto Blue Jays says (in Romero Wins Third Straight Start, Beats Rays 5-0) TORONTO (AP) -- Ricky Romero pitched four-hit ball over eighth innings, Rod Barajas, Adam Lind and Scott Rolen each homered and the Toronto Blue Jays end the Tampa Bay Rays' seven-game winning streak with a 5-0 victory Wednesday.

Jays of the Day are Romero (.354 WPA) and Alex Rios (.114). Honorable mention to Hill for a double and a great DP, Rolen and Scoot. No Suckage Jays, Millar come closest (-.081).

And Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in Can We Get Bronson Arroyo Traded to the AL East, We Need to Face Him More Than Once a Year) That was a great first inning. 3 homers, 5 runs and the game was pretty much over. Aaron Hill, Vernon Wells and Adam Lind went deep. Vernon had a great day at the plate with the homer, a double and a walk. Hill had two hits as well, he looked much better at the plate than he has in the last little while. Li...

And Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in Brian Tallet was Great, Bullpen Less So) about : Cincinnati Reds third baseman Adam Rosales, left, lunges for the ball as Toronto Blue Jays' Alex Rios steals third base during the second inning of a baseball game in Toronto on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. 2 Weeks Ago, Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in As Good as Yesterday's Game Was.....Today's Was Bad) Blue Jays 1 Nationals 2 (11 innings)

The only guy with more than 1 hit was Vernon Wells, he would have had 3 expect for an amazing catch by Nationals center fielder, Willie Harris. Look for the highlight of that one. Vernon made great catch too, earlier in the game.

3 Weeks Ago, Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in Dangling Conversation, Debate Edition: Should JP Go?) But things have changed since then.  Sure, the B.J. Ryan deal tanked, as most multi-year deals to relievers are destined to.  The Vernon Wells deal isn't looking any better (though Wells was the Jays' best offensive weapon last season) and the Overbay deal, while at reasonable cost, has hurt...

And Tom Dakers from Bluebird Banter says (in Doc Wins His 10th of the Season) Offensively Aaron Hill broke out of his 0 for 25 streak with a 2 run homer and Lyle Overbay was 2 for 3 with a massive solo homer to center. Not that it will matter to the folks that think it's funny to call him Lyle Overpaid but he is batting .302 and has been just terrific all season. But like I said th...
