But this was a game that was truly won by Derrick Rose. Faced with daunting odds: not only the Utah Jazz, but his own coach who left out an atrocious defensive lineup and ran out of time outs, Rose was sensational down the stretch. Beating his man at will and letting the Jazz do what they do best, f...
Derrick Rose, sitting quietly in front of his locker-room stall before the Chicago Bulls faced the 76ers last night, was asked whether he thought it was "daunting" to step right in as a starting point guard in the NBA.

G Ben Gordon has been used to being a main man for the Bulls in the fourth quarter. But in recent victories over Golden State and Utah, rookie Derrick Rose did most of the late game damage while Gordon did not score in the fourth quarter of either game. "We need that to win games," Gordon said. "I th...

Drew Gooden was spectacular and outplayed Elton Brand, not only hitting jumpers but scoring in a variety of ways inside. It was crucial early as he was the only one providing offense (rough start from who's usually in charge of the scoring, Ben Gordon) in an otherwise terrible first quarte...

The Bulls also hit the glass hard, with lumbering Aaron Gray scoring twice on offensive rebounds. After Luol Deng missed a shot, Tyrus Thomas sailed in for the rebound and gave the ball back to Deng for a layup as the Bulls took a 78-75 lead. They went on a 10-0 spanning the end of the third and sta...

For this game to be competitive and for the Bulls to ultimately get the "W", we are going to need to execute down the stretch. We got complacent towards the end of the Denver game towards the end and could not the put the game away even though we were close the entire game prior. The Bulls are a sol...

INSIDE SLANT Gone is the national ranking, the hopes for a Big East title, the hopes for a school-record 10-win season for South Florida. The only thing remaining is to try and get a win in one of its final two games against UConn or West Virginia and salvage a bowl bid. USF plays host to UConn Sun...

Some more stats for you: the Bulls and Cavs turn the ball over at exactly the same rate, which bodes well for us since our new fast-paced system usually leads to more turnovers. Turnovers lead to fast breaks, which lead to (sorely needed) easy buckets. On the other side of the coin, the Cavs...

Fun Facts: The EA NBA Live 09 simulated season predicts they'll finish with 41 wins (a sad fourth in the Eastern Conference) and make the playoffs, losing in first round to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Derrick Rose goes by the nickname "Pooh," an alias invented by his grandmother when he was an...

The Bulls WILL look like FOOLS and the punchline is Boylan. This will be a joke..literally!! The biggest joke that can be played on us at this point is a win to give us this ounce of hope that we can make the playoffs. The only joke will be on us (the fan base)...as the horri-bulls will blow the game in the 4th yet again. and I can't wait to explode when Bimbo the Clown puts in the small lineup to start the 4th. Even if six of the Celtics' best players became deathly ill and missed the game tonight, the Bulls should still lose just on principal I'm defecting to the Celtics. The Bulls are too through this year. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]

The surprise team so far this season, the Portland Trail Blazers, earned yet another win on Thursday, outlasting the Chicago Bulls--arguably the most disappointing team this season--115-109 in double overtime. Brandon Roy had 25 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and two steals. A bruised tailbone slowed Roy down in the second overtime but Jarrett Jack (17 points, five assists, four rebounds) then took over, putting Portland ahead for good with a three point play with just :19 remaining in the second overtime. Travis Outlaw added 21 points for the Blazers, who had six players score in double figures. Ben Gordon, thriving in his new sixth man role, had a game-high 32 points, shooting 15-27 from the field, but his late turnover led directly...

Kobe Bryant is still laboring as a result of the groin injury that he suffered during Friday's loss to Golden State but with more than a little help from his friends the Lakers defeated the Bulls 103-91 in Chicago. Sasha Vujacic led six double figure scorers for the Lakers with 19 points, shooting 6-10 from the field. Bryant had 18 points on 7-19 shooting. He started out 3-10 in the first half, then made his first four shots in the third quarter before cooling off again. Bryant also had six rebounds, two assists, three steals and one blocked shot; his +13 plus/minus rating was the third best on the team, trailing the +18 efforts of both Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum (Vujacic's plus/minus rating was +6). Odom had 17 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, i...

SEATTLE -- The Bulls lost a lead in the final seconds as the Portland Trail Blazers scored the game's final four points for a 96-93 victory Wednesday night. But it wasn't the frantic finish -- or even the outcome, for that matter -- that had coach Scott Skiles steaming afterward.
