9. The Bears are mightly lucky Bears killer Steve Smith did in Green Bay with that nifty catch near the end of the game to set up the game-winning touchdown at Lambeau Field. The Packers have stumbled two straight weeks but they've got it easy the rest of the way and if the Williams Wall is knocke...
Right about now I am going to stop and open it up to you. I am at a loss to figure out where we are. We still can make the playoffs. We have a lead on the Packers and the Vikings have a much harder schedule and I am also not endorsing the lose for a better draft pick theory, but really what is this team...

Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter. The Bears lost, they’re now 6-6, in second place in the NFC North with no chance of being an NFC Wildcard team. Yes, the Vikings have a tougher schedule that the Bears and it’s possible if the Bears win out and Green Bay loses out with an easier schedule, the...

The running joke at Halas Hall is that the next time Lovie Smith says the Bears had anything but a good, great or excellent practice will be the first time.

Bears - 27 :: Rams - 3 The Bears and Vikings, who are both 6-5, will break the tie for first-place in the NFC North in Week 13 with a game against each other in Minnesota. The Packers, on the other hand, will host the Panthers in hopes of getting a victory.

The Bears finally unveiled their version of the wildcat offense, using a direct snap to Devin Hester for a 12-yard gain and one to Matt Forte for four yards. Not exactly the knockout punch the Dolphins used to shock the league earlier ...

This year With any luck, Riley improves against Stanford. Riley will be the starting quarterback next season and needs improvement to help Cal maximize their offense’s potential. Next Year Hopefully, the line will be better and the quarterback and receivers will be on the same page.

Since then the Bears have done nothing but lose a football game at home, lose a football game on the road, lose to a team in the AFC, lose to a team in the NFC and spark a firestorm of criticism for Lovie Smith, a man who navigated them within three Rex Grossman turnovers of a Super Bowl.

Of more immediate concern to the Bears is the injured ankle of QB Kyle Orton. Current estimates have him missing at least a month with a high-ankle sprain. To expect incumbent QB Rex Grossman to enjoy the same kind of success that Orton had in this system is unrealistic.

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 Thanks, Roy Williams, For Making Me Look So Damn Good I posted a blog about Lions asshole receiver Roy Williams, but many of you may not have seen it since it was Saturday evening. Do yourself a favor and check it out, because Mr. Williams made me look so good during the Bears' annihilation of the Lions Sunday afternoon. Sure, he wound up with seven catches (one shy of his season total heading into the game), but he had several drops, had a pass bounce off of him and into the hands of Charles Tillman (which he promptly returned for a pick six and made me cry I was laughing so hard) and drew the ire of Brian Billick on Fox for his antics on the sideline. I loved him throwing his gloves off on the sideline and sitting on the bench, only t...

Monday, September 22, 2008 Chicago Bears: Dumbest Team In The NFL I've been to somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 Bears games in my lifetime, and a more frustrating loss than yesterday's overtime debacle against Tampa Bay is hard to come by. This team is not good enough to make any mistake...

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Week 2 Tuesday (Night) Quarterback For a team that stunned the world Week 1 by winning in Indianapolis, the Bears quickly reverted to the form I predicted prior to the season in giving one away at Carolina Sunday. Even early on, up 17-3, it looked like the Bears wo...

Thursday, September 11, 2008 Human Turnstile Comes Back To Bears One of the main problems with the Bears' running game, other than erstwhile drunk Cedric Benson, was offensive tackle Fred Miller, or as I affectionately call him, The Human Turnstile. The reason for the name is quite simple. Like a Wal-Mart greeter, Miller allowed players he was supposed to be blocking a clear path to Bears quarterbacks. And now, he's back from retirement to back up John Tait and John St. Clair until (hopefully) first-round pick Chris Williams returns. That comes on the heels of a largely unnoticed trade for Buccaneers lineman Dan Buenning last week. Buenning was inactive Sunday but should be playing once he gets the playbook down. I will agree that St. Clair lar...

Monday, September 8, 2008 Enjoy, but don't expect too much Bears fans, celebrate this win. Be happy the Bears trounced Peyton Manning and his Super Bowl-contenting Colts. Congratulate Matt Forte on a very solid NFL debut, and thank Kyle Orton for not screwing up or putting the defense in te...

Bears GM Jerry Angelo got about as fired up as he has ever gotten Sunday when he lambasted the media for their criticism of the Bears over first-round draft pick Chris Williams' back injury. But before he goes off on the media for letting the Bears have it for essentially drafting damaged goo...

Rahula Strohl playing Madden '08: That's right, Madden '08 because I'm too cheap to buy Madden '09. Things start off well for the Bears. They go 3-and-out after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff, but Brad Maynard pins the Vikings at their 1-yard line and Lance Briggs returns a Tarva...

Devin Hester had caught a 65-yard touchdown pass and they were driving in for a second score to make it 14-3. With the ball on the 1, the Bears came up empty. The Packers' loss helps. Green Bay would pretty much have to win out to have any chance at the playoffs.
