Mid-Day: East Dominating West

So Far East Is Best: There has been a lot of talk the last couple years about how the Eastern Conference seems to have recovered from the funk it was in for a while and that now they should be on par with or maybe better than the Western Conference. Last season they did win the NBA Finals with the Bo...

Russel, Cousy, Havlicek: Best "Big 3" Ever

The Boston Celtics dominated the NBA during the late 1950's and early 1960's. It was largely due to these three hall of fame players. There are 25 NBA championship rings owned between these three men. All three are a part of the "50 Greatest Players of All-Time." All three have won finals...

Quote of the Day

Perk had the quote of the day, speaking about learning from KG's suspension: “He loves the way I play so he hasn’t taught me anything (about remaining composed on the court),” Perkins joked. “KG’s crazier than me. He’s under control but he’s not a good example to learn from.”

Celtics Hurt Knicks Feelings

Thumbnail Quentin Richardson:  I think a few of those guys know they can’t just say anything to us.  I’m just real curious to see what those guys will be saying if we weren’t in a basketball league and didn’t have referees.  It wouldn’t be the same story.

Unlikely source helps Garnett-less Celtics win

Thumbnail Brian Scalabrine, in the starting lineup while Kevin Garnett served a one-game suspension, hit a 3-pointer with 1:14 left to help Boston recover after its 15-point, fourth-quarter lead was trimmed to four and the Celtics beat New York 110-101 on Tuesday night.

BDL NBA Power Rankings: Shattered dreams, broken promises

Thumbnail 4. Cleveland Cavaliers — "LeBron James scored 38 points, leading a second-half rally that gave the Cleveland Cavaliers their seventh straight victory ..." That has to be the Associated Press's go-to line. I bet they use it to pick up chicks at the bar. Also, "LeBronco James":

Random Thoughts

Thumbnail No word from Antonio McDyess other than he is thinking about his options. We know that Danny contacted him. We know that he was hurt when Detroit traded him. He had 17 or 18 teams contact him. He wants to go to a contender and he wants a ring. The Celtics can offer him more money than the Pistons. The Cav...

Comments from the Other Side - Bucks

Thumbnail Moute makes Kevin Garnett look like Kevin Bacon. The scary thing is that Pierce hasn't even shown up yet. Hopefully Jefferson/Moute keep him out of the game the whole night. Twice, one Celtic gets a board while surrounded by four Bucks players Pierce owning us tonight.

Comments from the Other Side - Pacers

Thumbnail Hey, we have players that get injured and aren't drama queens. Refreshing. Celtics can't say the same for Pierce the drama queen. Top ten things overheard on the Celtics team plane after getting blown out by the Pacers.

Opinion: As the Celtics Age: Here Comes Chicken Little

We respond to the ESPN article on the Eastern Conference projections that put the Celtics at the top, but as Redsarmy.com noted, served up a potential breakdown factor for Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. ESPN projected the Celtics No. 1 of coarse, but cautioned: BACK TO OUR CELTICS

Opinion: Celtics versus the “Redeem Team”?

Did I hear this right? The U.S. Olympic basketball team is calling itself the Redeem Team? Please. No. The best individual players in the world still live here. So does the best team. It’s called the Celtics. Kevin Scarbinsky – COULD THE CELTICS REPRESENT THE USA? WHERE ARE THE CELTICS?

Opinion: Some Game 5 Random ThoughtsVideo included in this story. Click to view.

Thumbnail Well, the Pistons have finished off the Magic in 5 games. They won on the road and they did it without Chauncey Billups. That should concern the Celtics in that they haven't been able to get it done on the road in 5 tries at full strength. Another thing that is concerning is that the Pistons are now sitting back and resting while the Celtics are going to have to go at least 6 games and possibly 7 if the Celtics can find some heart somewhere. This is assuming that the Celtics can come back and win 2 more games. I used to think that the Celtics were a lock for the Eastern Conference finals but the way they have been playing I don't know any more. Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]

Around the Mock Drafts

Thumbnail HoopsHype puts Noah at #5 with B Wright and Horford going 3 and 4. Scout.com has us taking Corey Brewer with the fifth pick and B Wright and Yi going 3rd and 4th. On ESPN, Chad Ford's mock has us taking Yi Jianlian at 5 with Conley and Horford going 3 and 4. Here is what Chad had to say "The skinny: This is the worst-case scenario for the Celtics. With no chance to get either Oden or Durant in the fold, the Celtics seem further away from a title than ever. Yi is a good fit in Boston, given his size and ability to score. But is he enough to save Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers?" Pro Basketball News puts Yi in Boston at 5, Conley in Atlanta, and B Wright in Memphis.

Fiddlin' and Diddlin' on 5/27

Thumbnail The Sun Sentinel has a rather caustic article that puts forth the fact that the tree teams accused of tanking last season ended up slipping down to the worst possible scenario for them in the draft. The article goes on to be very anti-Celtics. Should Boston's Danny Ainge be rewarded for trading for Sebastian Telfair at the cost of Brandon Roy? Should Memphis' Jerry West be bailed out after dispatching Shane Battier and throwing money at Brian Cardinal and Damon Stoudamire? And enough of the argument about how Boston and Milwaukee weren't tanking but merely were injured, and therefore shouldn't be discriminated against in the lottery. That, in fact, is the weakest of arguments, since Paul Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak and Brian Scalabrine wi...

Some Much Needed Koolaid on the Day After

Thumbnail There are several very good veterans reportedly available. There are several very good players who will be available to us in the draft. I have a lot more faith in Danny's drafting than I do in his trading. Mocks are coming out with some having us taking Yi and some Noah. I like what I have read about Noah. He knows how to win. He is working very hard to improve himself and I think he will push himself to be the very best he can be and think he would be a good fit for us. Yi's defense is suspect and there are questions about his age so I am not sold on him yet. Hawes might be a possibility. Or if Mike Conley was available we might even go for a point guard. Danny has gotten a new PG every year so far so why break the string. Rondo and Conley would be a nice PG tandem. Corey Brewer i...

Nuggets Stun Celtics by Playing Good Defense

Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds, while Chauncey Billups had 18 points and a game-high seven assists; in the final 2:50, Billups had a big three point play, made a pair of free throws and had two assists, thus playing a part in every point Denver scored in that late, game-deciding outburst. Ray Allen led the Celtics with 26 points, 18 of which he scored in the first quarter. Paul Pierce added 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Kevin Garnett had 16 points and nine rebounds. Eddie House scored 13 points off of the bench but the remaining seven Celtics who played combined to produce just 11 points on 4-20 field goal shooting.
